5 Easy Ways to Grow Your List

Looking for some fast ways to grow your list? Wondering how to start growing your list while you are creating your online course?
I work with lots of experts in our Create 6-Figure Courses community. If you need to grow your list while you create your online course, you are not alone. 99% of our students are growing their following while they’re creating their course.
You can do both at the same time.
Creating an online course is one of the fastest ways to grow your list. In previous episodes, I have shared that creating a free webinar is a powerful way to find students for your online course. It is my recommended approach to grow your list and fill your online course at the same time.
Let’s talk about how you can start to grow your list before you begin to promote your webinar.
5 Ways to Grow Your List (As You Create Your Course)
#1) Grow Your List By Commenting
Commenting on social posts is a low-cost way to start to build your following. It takes time and consistency. And, it is well worth the effort.
First, choose a social platform that your ideal clients are using. Your focus is on finding groups and pages related to your area of expertise
This could be:
- Facebook or LinkedIn groups that are connected to your topic
- Instagram profiles that are related to your area of focus such as vendors, authors, or competitors
Next, consistently show up and add value. Emphasis is on “add value”. Don’t be that creepy guy that posts his ad or opt-in in every comment on Facebook. That never works.
When someone asks questions related to your area of expertise on a page or in a group, give them a tip or share an idea. They will hop over to your profile to see who you are. This is how you grow followers using this approach.
Be sure to comment from your business page. If you don’t already have social profiles for your business, jump on that first.
#2) Grow Your List with Video
Time to get comfortable whipping that phone out and shooting a short video. Why? Because video is where it is at, my friends.
Both Instagram and Facebook favor video, so you’re going to get further organic (free) reach when you post video instead of posting copy on your page. Video gets 59% more engagement than any other type of content.
If you’re not working with a paid budget right now, you really have to focus on where you’re going to get the biggest free reach. I would start with short videos – take out your phone and shoot for 1-2 minutes.
Wondering what to talk about? The fastest way to come up with topics is to make a list of 20 questions that you know your ideal audience has related to what you’re covering in your course. From there, start posting short videos answering questions.
#3) Grow Your List with Live Video
If you want to kick it up a notch, go “live”.
Live video is prioritized even higher in the feed than static video. This is another way to get more free reach. Both Instagram and Facebook allow you to broadcast live video from your social profile.
You can invite your followers (or some friends) to provide questions they want answers to prior to hosting your live session. Or, you could simply choose a topic and plan to lead a conversation or short training on the topic.
#4) Grow Your List by Creating the Right Content
Great content answers the questions your ideal audience is asking. Click To Tweet
We have talked before about the different types of content you can create. When your audience consumes a piece of content, you can learn more about their interests.
For example, one of my most popular online programs, Create 6-Figure Courses Virtual Bootcamp, is focused on creating and launching profitable online courses. Here is an example of free content I created and shared on the topic of finding your transformation for your online course – Your 4-Step Online Course Transformation Finder Worksheet. Notice how downloading this tool indicates an interest in creating and launching an online course.
Create free content that answers “lead in” questions for your course or offer. What are some questions your ideal audience is asking related to your online course topic?
You can share your content in the following:
- Online forums related to your topic
- Your social pages (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
- Email to your list
- Emails to bloggers and influencers in your niche. You could email to them and say, “Hey, I love following you and really enjoy your content. I believe your audience would find value in this checklist I created. Feel free to share if you’d like.”
#5) Grow Your List with Promotional Partners
A great promotional partner is someone who serves the same community you want to serve but does not offer a directly competitive offer.
Make a list of vendors and experts who serve your audience. Think about how you could add value for their audience. It’s never too early to start to establish a relationship.
You can begin building a relationship by:
- Sharing their content.
- Commenting and contributing on their social pages.
- Sharing resources they might find valuable.
Summary
These are 5 ways that you can grow your list by sharing great content. This is a powerful way to grow your list and find the people who need what you offer.
You can do this. Being consistent is the key. You can easily invest a couple of hours a week and begin building your audience while you are creating your online course or any other offer.
