4 Simple Steps to Be an Effective Coach

You are the leader of your tribe of people that you call “customers” or “clients”.  Great leaders share a meaningful vision and equip the people they lead to achieve it.   Every conversation you have with your tribe should move them forward to create the result they are following you to achieve. This is the most important thing you can do to grow your business: create results.

In a recent article I wrote for Fast Company, I shared 4 steps every leader can follow in a coaching conversation to get powerful results. As you read the article, imagine applying these 4 steps to every conversation you have with your audience. Whether you are leading a one-on-one coaching conversation with a client, writing a blog post or presenting at a conference, you are there to do one thing: move people into action to achieve what they imagine.

Here are 4 steps you can focus on to be an effective coach to your community:

1.  Engage your audience by exploring “Why”.

2.  Share “What” they need to know to perform.

3.  Practice “How” they need to put this into action.

4. Perform by putting it into action.

Check out the article and read it through the lens of being the leader of your little part of the world.  What’s one thing you can go right now that would greatly impact the results your clients are getting by being in relationship with you?
